In the dark of the evening on 7 January 2010, there were dogs sitting around the security guard house. The terrorists suddenly appeared, then one of those dogs jumped and started barking. Its voice lead other dogs also barked. Their barking voices warned people staying in that areas and helped them escaping from the guns firing to them. Hero dog got serious wounded while those people got little injury. They were safe because of the hero dog.
One of the witness, she is a teacher and sitting at the front of her house from the guard house only 10 meters. She was fired but before terrorists killed her, the dog voices made the terrorists run away.
It is a Thai dog with black short hairs and white color beneath the head. People calls it “Toom” (flower bud or voice of blast) and living near the gaurd house without owner. At Saiburi district in Pattani province at the South of Thailand, it sometime has the attacks from terrorists. This attack did not kill anyone, but it made a great hero dog.
The day after the attack, the officer found “Toom” got serious wounded at front leg – its bone was broken. He took it to animal hospital. Although veterinarian cut his leg but it is the beat way to safe its life.
“Toom” was out from animal hospital with only 3 legs. But it had a good news – one of food vendors nearby brought it to his pet. It has own home!
Nowadays, “Toom” lives with its owner but everyday it still goes to the security guard house to do its work. It doesn’t forget the duty!
